Something I’ve noticed recently when reading my News Feed on Facebook is the fact that they are nesting posts together based on whatever you are using to post. I saw one that had 46 nested posts!!!
These two screenshots show that no matter how wonderfully interesting your content is, Facebook wants you to navigate to Facebook itself and post your information, not using third party tools. This also increases your EdgeRank (your Page’s visibility in the Top News view). The best approach is to manually post unique content.
Third Party Tools
What are third party tools? These are vendors outside of Facebook that you can use to post. I use Hootsuite to post to Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. It saves time and allows you to be strategic when posting. You’ll usually only find people that are using social for their personal or professional brands using those types of solutions.
Their Motivation
Why would Facebook do that? Well, they make their money from advertising. If users aren’t on the platform to post and are “phoning it in” from another location, they don’t see FB ads and the advertisers don’t make as much money as they could. It’s a small punishment, a consequence of not posting on platform. It makes sense to me when I think of it in that context.
Short answer – Their board, their rules. Get used to it.
