Maturity is something I don’t see  a lot of on social networks. Let’s say we aren’t drowning in it. So when it does appear, it’s like a breath of fresh air.

A man I know is going through a tough time in his relationship. He confided in me that he had deactivated his Facebook account so that if his partner decides to go off the rails, Facebook can’t be used as a weapon. [PSA Alert: Think of the horrible opportunities for “drunk dialing” which we can now be called “drunk posting”. Don’t post while under the influence! ]

I’ve said this before and it bears repeating, nothing can be erased from the Internet. Once you tip over that box and the beans spill out, there is no recapturing it all. I hadn’t had anyone tell me that they had done this and I congratulated him on his foresight. Taking a pause while everyone cools off is a good idea.

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. In this case, they CAN hurt you. Be careful out there.
