drop of water clear communication

There are many complaints and reports that we don’t communicate the way we used to, that we lack adequate “face-time”. What I’m finding is that we are reaching out to each other and communicating in ever-expanding, multi-dimensional ways. Every day we are finding new ways to talk to each other and new ways to have clear communication.

The one thing that is constant is change

Don’t let the evolution of human communication scare you. Because I am a glass half-full type of person, I can see that I’m connected to my entire family regardless of country. I am able to build my very own network of colleagues for informational and business purposes. I am able to look for work or work from home. I can indulge my creativity by using multimedia devices to create projects that reflect the way I see the world and share it with millions of people. I can save money on freeware programs. I can advertise my business for next to nothing. I can make money by selling things I don’t need or want. I can listen to books or read newspapers from around the globe. I can participate in a political revolution.

I can’t overemphasize the importance of change. It’s how we grow, evolve, and innovate. It’s really easy to fall into a place of being grumpy about change, it happens to me too. But it’s important for each of us to recognize that the way “it’s always been” isn’t the way it is today or tomorrow. Without change, we perish. Communication is no different and it will continue to evolve. Just as human languages evolve, so too will the way we use it.

Lots of Clear Communication

We actually have more communication than we know what to do with. Our job is to clarify our messaging, eliminate unnecessary missives, and edit. Remember, it’s not that we don’t talk to each other, it’s that the how has changed.
