I’m a glass half full kind of person.
There are many complaints and reports that we don’t communicate the way we used to, that we lack adequate “face-time”. What I’m finding is that we are reaching out to each other and communicating in ever expanding, multi-dimensional ways. Every day we are finding new ways to talk to each other and news ways to have clear communication.
Don’t let the evolution of communication scare you, for the one thing that is constant is change.
So with the half full glass here in front of me, I am connected to my entire family regardless of country. I am able to build my very own network of colleagues for informational and business purposes. I am able to look for work or work from home. I can indulge my creativity by using multimedia devices to create projects that reflect the way I see the world and share it with millions of people. I can save money on freeware programs. I can advertise my business for next to nothing. I can make money by selling things I don’t need or want. I can listen to books or read newspapers from around the globe. I can participate in a political revolution.
UPDATE 6/16/11 This post was originally on my last blog which has been folded into this one. The last line of the post really strikes me. The last year has been full of political strife and social media has played a huge part in that. I couldn’t have foreseen that the level it played a part but it is nice to see I knew it was possible.
